NORTHERN TERRITORY

TERRITORY QUILTS 10 is to be in Alice Springs, 6-13 November 2010. The Alice Springs Quilting Club will be hosting the Territory Quilts 2010 Exhibition at the Araluen Arts Centre. The best quilt from this judged exhibition will become part of the Australian touring Best of Show Exhibition in 2011. Entries open to all members of a Territory quilt club until 1 September 2010. Desert Mob Symposium stories from the artists

DESERT MOB Symposium – stories from the artists is a day of artists’ talks by Aboriginal artists, artefact makers, sculptors, filmmakers and photographers from Aboriginal Art Centres together with respected Indigenous artists from across Australia. This year Desert Mob Symposium takes as its theme ‘In Country’ with a vibrant program of stories, images and short films about the place of community, country and culture in the work of Aboriginal artists. Program includes Racy Oui-Pitt from Erub Erwer Meta Art Centre in the Torres Strait Islands, Waradgerie artist and sculptor Lorraine Connelly-Northey, young and emerging film makers from Ngurra Kuju Walyja Canning Stock Route project, Ngurratjuta Iltja Ntjarra (Many Hands) watercolour artists from Big hART’s Namatjira project, Tangentyere Artists, young photographers from Warlayirti Artists (Balgo), Mimili Maku Arts and more...
