FORUM CONFERENCES: ARE THEY FOR YOU?

2011 FORUMS: Orange and Geelong (Geelong FORUM announced Nov 2010)

Anderson Building at Orange Forum

THE ANNUAL ORANGE FORUM in APRIL 2011

The next available TAFTA FORUM takes place from 10-16 April 2011 in Orange NSW where it will be the 7th TAFTA FORUM held at Kinross-Wolaroi School. Enjoy this unique opportunity to gather with likeminded people including tutors, students and suppliers in a creatively charged atmosphere that allows for in-depth learning along with a celebration of the full spectrum of the textile arts.

Regarding RESIDENTIAL accommodation, PLEASE NOTE!
To be RESIDENTIAL (live on-campus) you must now go on a waiting list.

- Why is there a shortage of on-campus accommodation? The 2011 event has proved so popular that, at present, all available on-campus rooms are spoken for.
- If I go on a waiting list will I get to ‘live in?’ Inevitably some people will have to drop out and a few residential spaces will open up, but not many. Get on the waiting list fast!
- What other accommodation options are there? Orange has an excellent range of accommodation options. The motels closest to the venue, Kinross-Wolaroi School are: Orange Motor Lodge; Country Comfort and The Ambassador. There are two very good caravan parks: Canobolas Caravan Park, and Colour City Caravan Park. Let Google guide you and/or contact the Information Centre: 02.6393.8226   1800 069 466   www.orange.nsw.gov.au
- Why should I hurry? The very popular ‘Food Week’ in Orange (www.orangefoodweek.com.au) coincides with TAFTA’s week in Orange for the April FORUM. Eventually most accommodation will be booked out.
- If I book off-campus accommodation, can I still be considered for on-campus (residential) if rooms come up? Yes, of course. Make your wishes clear when you enrol and if you are offered residential (on-campus) accommodation your invoicing will be adjusted.
- What about workshops? Can I still book in for a workshop? Absolutely. The list of available workshops is as you find it below.
We hope to hear from you!  -Janet & Sofia

You can also email tafta@iinet.net.au to request the details be provided to you by return email, or by post – just ask for information on the available courses and/or an enrolment form. Phone: (07) 3300.6491.

Another way to get the updates on FORUMS is to see NEWS & EVENTS/NSW on the website - the 'News & Events" section is updated near the first of each month.

The seventh TAFTA “April FORUM - Orange” will see the usual strong mix of overseas and Australian tutors. When your enrolment is accepted (see details below), that is the workshop you will take for the full week. Registration is held on Sunday afternoon, 10th April and classes run Monday – Friday, 9am-4pm, with Wednesday afternoon free. Remember that if you can’t attend the full week of the April FORUM in Orange, consider the Open House on Saturday morning, 16th April – when members of the public are especially welcome.

BALLOT: A ballot for places in the workshops of the April FORUM 2010 was held in mid-June 2010. All workshops now remaining open are listed above and this list is updated as workshops close. You do not have to be a member of TAFTA to attend the April FORUM, but there is a $55 surcharge to attend if you are not - the enrolment form explains this clearly. It costs $38.50 to subscribe to Textile Fibre Forum magazine which includes membership in TAFTA. It Pays To Subscribe!
