4. CHARMER OF WATER CREATURES: NEW IBORIIS, 15TH CENTURY POST IMPERIUM When the Nrat-Tuan water people left their world seeking new Wave Patterns in space, they ceased to engineer the relationship between water and land, to make water the dominant form, and dry lands emerged. They also ceased to control the proliferation of the indigenous, huge, primal water creatures which used to inhabit the oceans. Consequently, the water monsters grew and bred, and the world which was so attractive to the Iboriisi with their erratic climate, became more dangerous than they had anticipated. They were used to danger, so much so that every citizen was trained in combat, and everything on the body could be a weapon. However, new strategies needed to be found to control the huge reptiles which dominated the now-empty world. The Charmer, a military expert with a high degree of empathey and some psionic ability became one of the most important people on New Iboriis, being able to communicate with and stabilise the behaviour of the water creatures and render the lands habitable for people. The skin featured on the Robe comes from one of the most prevalent animals, and one which is capable of causing the most damage. |
